Hunting success rate focuses on the percentage of successful hunts. Similar to hunting success, kill rates are the number of animals an individual predator kills per time unit. Different predation strategies can also contribute to hunting success, for example, hunting in groups gives predators an advantage over a solitary predator, and pack hunters like lions can kill animals that are too powerful for a solitary predator to overcome, like a megaherbivore. Prey animals that are in poor health are targeted and this contributes to the predator's hunting success. Predators selectivity target certain categories of prey, in particular prey of a certain size. Hunting success is determined by a number of factors such as the features of the predator, timing, different age classes, conditions for hunting, experience, and physical capabilities. In ecology, hunting success is the proportion of hunts initiated by a predatory organism that end in success. This means the planet could play a bigger role in the overarching storyline than it ever has before, which would honor Predator’s history while playing on one of the biggest mainstays of the series in a refreshingly unique way.Chameleon successfully capturing prey with its tongue Plus, looking back at the franchise as a whole, Predator has always primarily taken place on Earth, and this comic series hasn’t had any character step foot on Earth the entire time. ![]() Theta has been tracking the Predators trying to find their homeworld in order to wipe them out in one final stand, so it would be perfectly ironic if that final stand happened on her homeworld instead. Assuming this interpretation is correct, it actually makes a lot of sense given everything that’s happened in the series–and even the entire franchise–thus far. The way the comic presents this information gives the impression that the Predators are actually headed towards Earth, as the book specifically draws the reader to that idea. While the information could have been misread by those unfamiliar with Theta’s systems, that isn’t likely. However, that could soon change, as this comic series seems to be leading to a final showdown with the Predators, one that will likely take place on Earth. Despite that, the ongoing Predator comic hasn’t had any character, Yautja or otherwise, step foot on Earth, as this series is based in space/far-off worlds. The only movie where the setting wasn’t Earth was Predators, but the Yautja still had to abduct the humans they were hunting, so the fascination with Earth still remained. The first film took place on Earth, which is a trend that remained true throughout nearly every subsequent film in the series. Either way, the Predators have always been drawn to Earth throughout the franchise. If Alien vs Predator continuity is taken into account, then they’ve been hunting on Earth for a great deal longer than that, as it’s implied the Yautja helped shape early human civilization. Predators have been hunting humans and other dangerous animals on Earth since at least the 1700s, as shown in the film Prey. However, the next time the Predators visit Earth in-canon, it won’t be like any of the other times, as the current trajectory of the latest ongoing Predator series indicates that it will be bigger than ever before. Warning! This article contains spoilers for Predator #3 The members of the Predatorspecies are no strangers to Planet Earth, as it is one of their most frequently-visited hunting grounds.
